Overview
You can edit a profile by going to Profiles in the Dashboard, and find the desired profile by searching their name in the search bar to the top-right area of the screen and clicking on it.
Alternatively, if you are logged into the site, you can access a profile from the front/user-facing end and click the “Edit Profile” button at the top of your screen along the Dashboard bar.
- Click on Publish or Save Draft to save your changes
- Alternatively, while logged into CMS, go to the profile on the front-end, and click on Edit Profiles

When editing profiles, the following fields can be modified:
- First Name (required)
- Middle Name
- Last Name (required)
- Profile Category: For the profile to appear on the site, select either Faculty, Staff, or Graduate Student for each profile (required)
- Course Instructor: If the name of the instructor is different from the name on SSC, you can manually assign to allow courses to be displayed
- Mark graduate student profile as a job market candidate
- Staff profile display option
- Phone number: Number formatted as 604 123 4567 (no brackets or dashes)
- Email: Insert one main UBC email address; other email addresses can go in the About field
- Department Title: Job position title within the department; other titles can go in the About field
- Address/Office: Office address
- Address Office URL: Link location of the office
- External Websites: Addition links to personal websites (a profile must be published and saved before an external website link can be added)

Managing and Organizing Profiles
Profiles can be further organized by Faculty Groups, Staff Groups, Research Areas, and Programs. When selected, the profiles will be displayed in the people archive section, when the corresponding taxonomy is selected.
- Faculty Group examples: Core Faculty, Affiliates, Sessional Instructors, Adjunct Instructors, Fellows, Research Associates, Lecturers, Emeritus
- Staff Group examples: Leadership, Administrative, Student Support
- Research Areas should be the same items as “Topics” in News and Events
- Program examples: Master’s, PhD
Profile Pictures
A profile picture can be added or changed by setting a picture as the profile’s Featured Image.
To set a profile picture:
- Within your profiles, navigate to Featured Image and click on “set featured image” to upload a picture from your computer.
Tips and best practices for profiles:
- Add additional content other than the set fields by using the Additional Description Box
- View image requirements
