October 2022 Arts CMS Updates

We’ve recently released some new updates that are now available on your Arts CMS website.

New media gallery design

In an effort to provide more engaging ways to browse images on Arts CMS, an additional option for displaying media galleries has been added to Arts CMS. To utilize this option, when adding a media gallery to your site (Add Media > Create Gallery > Create a new gallery), you can select the new “carousel” option located under gallery settings.

The new design will organize images into a carousel format that allows users to easily browse numerous images, and view details such as the image title and description. Similar to the updates that were made to the embedded image module, image descriptions can also now include links.

Additional options for captioning embedded images

In addition to inserting captions for embedded images using the module wizard, you now have the option of including that caption once, using the caption field associated with that image in the media library, and having that populate the caption for any embedded image that displays that image on your site.

As an added feature, these captions can also include links by including HTML in the caption field in the media library.

Multi-select enabled for dropdown menus

We’ve enabled multi-select on the Courses and People pages to improve the search and filter options. The updated design also makes it easier to view which search terms/filters are applied when viewing results.

People page and profiles redesign

The People page and Profile posts have been redesigned based on feedback from students, staff, faculty, and site administrators across Arts. Updates include changes to the visual design of page elements to improve accessibility, readability, consistency, and ease of maintenance. These updates were implemented on September 26, 2022.
